Great idea, right, but what is it? According to the Day's website, "Farm to School is broadly defined as any program that connects schools (K-12) and local farms with the objectives of serving healthy meals in school cafeterias, improving student nutrition, providing agriculture, health and nutrition education opportunities, and supporting local and regional farmers. Farm to School programs exist in all 50 states, but since Farm to School is a grassroots movement, programs are as diverse as the communities that build them."
So support the cause, or at least read one article/follow at least one link to learn a little more about this powerful tool that helps to teach kids the basics of food, which will hopefully curb the obesity epidemic that is spiraling out of control in the United States and taking our youngest citizens with it.
